In the first of three races this weekend, the Camping World Truck Series gets the racing weekend started in Daytona with the NextEra Energy Resources 250.

A new racing season and new rules. The biggest change this season is on pit road where NASCAR has taken away one of the pit crew members. Beginning this season there are only five over the wall crew members and the man who fuels the car or truck can only fuel the vehicle; he can no longer make any adjustments.

A new season of racing also brings a group of new faces as some drivers move on to the next level and new drivers move up.

The 100 lap race is divided into three stages of 20 laps, 20 laps, and 60 laps.

Polesitter David Gilliland brings the field down for the green fag and pulls out in front of the field for the lead.

Before the first lap is complete, the drivers are getting three wide.

David Gilliland leads the first lap.

Lap three Johnny Sauter and David Gilliland swap the lead back and forth with Johnny Sauter taking the lead on lap three.

Travis Kvapil brings out the first caution flag of the race when he blows an engine and is out of the race.

Even though the drivers have only driven for three laps, some of the drivers bring their truck down pit road for service and adjustments.

Johnny Sauter brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap seven and edges out David Gilliland for the lead.

On lap eight David Gilliland and Johnny Sauter again battle for the lead, swapping back and forth with David Gilliland finally taking over the lead of the race.

Lap 10 Clay Greenfield and David Gilliland battle back and forth for the lead for a couple of laps with Gilliland taking over the lead on lap 12 after a push from Johnny Sauter.

Lap 14 Johnny Sauter and David Gillialnd battle it out for the lead, swapping back and forth with David Gilliland taking the lead on lap 15.

Lap 16 David Gilliland and Johnny Sauter again battle back and forth for the lead Gilliland holding on to the lead of the race on lap 18.

Lap 17 Ben Rhodes brings his truck down pit road for service.

Johnny Sauter wins the race off of pit road. Clay Greenfield stalls his truck on pit road and has to have help getting it going again.

Jordan Anderson was penalized for having an uncontrolled tire. Brett Moffitt and Grant Enfinger were both penalized for having a crew member come over the pit wall too soon.

Lap 26 Korbin Forrister brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two but Noah Gragson passes Forrister for the lead.

Lap 27 Johnny Sauter passes Noah Gragson for the lead of the race.

Lap 30 Johnny Sauter holdson to the lead by a tenth of a second on Matt Crafton.

Lap 34 Johnny Sauter continues to lead the race with Stewart Friessen in second.

Lap 37 Johnny Sauter holds on to the lead with Stewart Friessen in second place a tenth of a second back.

Lap 38 Austin Hill brings his truck down pit road for service but failed to make pit road before it closed for the end of the stage and will have to serve a penalty

Matt Crafton gets sideways on pit road, the crew cannot fuel th etruck until after he has gotten into his pitbox.

David Gilliland brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three on lap 47. Gilliland holds on to the lead of the race. Matt Crafton started the race back in 25th place after his pit road mishap.

Lap 48 Dalton Sargeant and Grant Enfinger battle it out for the lead for a few laps Grant Enfinger finally taking the lead on lap 51.

John Hunter Nemechek moves up to battle Grant Enfinger for the lead and pulls out in front for the lead.

Grant Enfinger got sideways and spun out. Jennifer Jo Cobb, Dalton Sargearnt, and Scott Laggasse Jr were also involved in the crash.

While not involved in the crash, Matt Crafton is reporting a burnt gas smell.

John Hunter Nemechek wins the race off of pit road.

Lap 61 Johnny Sauter brngs the field down for the green flag restart and bettle Spencer Davis for the lead with the two swapping back and forth before Johnny Sauter finally gets the lead on lap 62.

Parker Kligerman is reporting an issue; he has a smoking tire.

Parker Kligerman did not make it back to pit road before his tire blew Bo LeMastus and Noah Gragson were involved a crash that brought out the caution flag.

Matt Crafton’s team continues to try and diagnose his truck issue.

After staying out on the track, John Hunter Nemechek brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 69 with Nemechek holdig on to the lead.

Lead John Hunter Nemechek appears to have a tire rub. David Gilliland passes Nemechek for the lead.

The caution flag comes out on lap 72 when John Hunter Nemechek’s tire blows and causes a wreck Brett Moffitt, Stewart Friessen, and Myatt Snider were also involved.

After a long caution, David Gilliland brings the field down for the green flag restart with only 19 laps remaining in the race. Gilliland holds off Justin Haley to take the lead of the race.

Lap 82 the caution flag comes out for a crash involving Clay Greenfield and Matt Crafton.

NASCAR has displayed the red flag.

After a little over five minutes, NASCAR has pulled the red flag and displayed the caution flag.

Justin Haley brings the field down for the green flag restartr with only 14 laps remaining in the race.

Matt Crafton’s team had too many pit crew members over the wall while Crafton was on the crash clock. Last season the penalty would have had Crafton’s truck parked, this season the driver is docked two laps.

Ten to go and Justin Haley leads the field.

David Gilliland passes Justin Haley to take over the lead of the race with nine laps to go.

Johnny Sauter passes David Gilliland to take over the lead of the race with nine laps remaining in the race.

David Gilliland hits the wall but the track stays green.

Seven to go and the two time Daytona winner Johnny Sauter holds on to the lead of the race.

Five to go and Johnny Sauter leads the pack.

Cody Coughlin has a flat tire and has to come down pit road.

Two to go and Johnny Sauter continues to lead the race.

Johnny Sauter takes the white flag.

An excited Johnny Sauter wins the race at Daytona as trucks are wrecking behind hin. This is Sauter’s thrid Daytona win.
