As the end of the year draws near, it is time to reflect on the year that was. For music and musicians that means compiling various lists in the “Best Of” category. Among those is the list of who made it big on the road over the year.
The online concert site Pollstar has compiled a list of the top 20 artists and bands who toured in 2017. Calculated according to box office receipts, Irish rockers U2 topped the list with over two million tickets sold bringing in $316 million. Guns N’ Roses with $292.5 million, Coldplay with $238 million, Bruno Mars with $200.1 million, and hard rockers Metallica with $152.8 million rounds out the top five.
Leading the way for country artists Garth Brooks with $101.4 million in tenth place and Celine Dion came in at $101.2 in eleventh place for the top earning female of the year.
