The 2018 class of inductees includes a group of true rockers from the sixties, seventies, and eighties that span both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
American rockers Bon Jovi
and The Cars
are joined by British rockers The Moody Blues
and Dire Straits.
Nina Simone
completes the list with Sister Rosetta Tharpe
is also being inducted under the early influence category.
While millions of fans may cast their votes for whom they would like to see in The Hall, the top vote getters only earns a single vote in the final count towards induction. This year Bon Jovi was the fan favourite.
This year over half of the new inductees earned their way in on their first nomination – Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, Nina Simone, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
The 2018 class of inductees marks the 33rd time the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has added to its ranks of musicians who have influenced the lives of music fans around the world.
An artist or band becomes eligible for nomination to the Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their debut album.
The ceremony will be the culmination of week long events and performances on April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio – the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
