Things were looking up on Broadway last week at the box office with 17 of the 28 shows running making it into the Million Dollar Club and all but five of the shows reaching at least 90% audience capacity.

But the biggest hit last week was the revival of the musical “Chicago” with “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and “Dancing with the Stars” alum Whitney Leavitt joined the show and was in her last week of her run which brought in the most last week that the show has ever seen at nearly $1.5 million.  With numbers like that, the show has already booked Leavitt’s return beginning March 23 through May 3.  And on April 6, “Dancing with the Stars” champion Mark Ballas will be joining the cast as lawyer Billy Flynn.

Overall, Broadway recorded receipts of $32.8 million at the box office.

Starring Nathan Lane, the play “Death of a Salesman” made its debut in the Million Dollar Club in the play’s first full week of performances.
