Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

I picked up some wood scraps from the front yard that the workmen had left. There was enough wood and the shapes were just right for a small book case/shelf.

I assembled the pieces and began to hammer them together. I must admit that at this point a friend, who is a lot stronger than I am, came by and he helped with the hammering – I would have been at it forever trying to get the nails in all the way.

Once the shelf was fully assembled, I painted it white and added some flowers.

Unfortunately, it did not make the move when I did. So much for those local inexpensive moving people.

The shelf came in very handy with craft supplies and patterns.

When I moved, I had to replace a lot of things including shelving. There are eight shelves in my new apartment of varying designs. I assembled every one of them by myself! Once I got the hang of putting them together, I got to where I could do the job a little faster with each one.

Don’t you just love the “need to assemble” items that state in big bold print “No Toos Required” but somehow they never really go together without a little assistance…like using a hammer to whack the tubing into the hole.

I started putting my swing together but it was a big too heavy and really did require some help. Friend and his son came over and had it completed in less than an hour…I spent two hours just getting the frame together and then part of it was done wrong and had to be redone.

I know what a hammer, screwdriver, pliers, and wrench are for and have them; but I really a big DIY person.
