Ten of the artists are first time nominees.

If Phil Collins earns an induction into The Hall, it will be his second induction. In 2010 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis.
Should they be selected for induction, it would be a posthumous induction for Jeff Buckley and Luther Vandross.
Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation John Sykes spoke on the list of nominees saying, “this diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture.”
The newest class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be announced in April; along with the Musical influence, musical excellence and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award recipients.
In order to be eligible for nomination into the Hall of Fame, an artist has to have released their “first commercial recording” at least 25 years ago.
