I freely admit to being a Chicago Bears fan but I do root for other teams; as long as, they aren’t playing DA BEARS!
Some 25 years ago, I moved to western New York. Occasionally, I will “play” tourist and check some places out. I live only a few blocks from Niagara Falls State Park, but somehow never get there as often as I would like – especially this time of year.
I grew up watching baseball and football with my dad and am pretty versed in both games. I can even score a baseball game…and did in college.
I have been to see a Buffalo Bisons baseball game maybe three times since I moved here – often too hot in the summer and not safe to be out alone in the dark at night.
While I have seen my share of Buffalo Bills games on the television and done my share of yelling at the TV, I have never been to see a Bills game live.
I admit that it would be nice to experience a game live – but not when it is super cold outside – and feel the crowd. I could never afford a good seat and now that they are moving into a new stadium, the prices will be even worse.
Oh well, the view is much better on the TV anyway…and a lot warmer!
I got close once, my nephew spent a few weeks in camp with the Detroit Lions – he was a linebacker. And wouldn’t you know it, the week of the Bills-Lions game, he got cut. It had come down to him and a guy with more experience…so obviously they took the experience over my nephew. He tackles numbers now – he’s an accountant. 🙂
