The week before Christmas, the sci-fi film “Avatar: Fire and Ash” was released to theatres. In just three short weeks, the film has not only occupied the number one spot; it has grossed $1 Billion in global box office receipts. Some three-fourths of that has come from international receipts.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash” is third of “Pandora” epic by James Cameron.
The Walt Disney Co. noted the billion dollar milestone was “cementing another monumental achievement for James Cameron’s groundbreaking franchise.”
Last weekend “Avatar: Fire and Ash” grossed $40 million in domestic box office receipts; more than doubling the amount of the film in second place – “Zootopia 2” with $19 million to bring the six week total to $1.59 billion.
