It’s the final stretch for the 2025 NASCAR racing season with the first of three triple header weekends to close out the season.  Last weekend NASCAR traveled to the biggest track on the circuit – Talladega Superspeedway.

While the Cup Series drivers avoided THE BIG ONE, they did have a big wreck near the end of stage one that sent a few playoff drivers to the garage.

In a surprise finish, Chase Briscoe edged out in a three way battle to win the race in an overtime finish.  Briscoe joins Denny Hamlin as two of the four drivers to battle for the championship in Phoenix in two weeks.

With his win, Chase Briscoe takes over the points lead by just nine points over Christopher Bell.

Non-playoff driver Austin Hill dominated the race at Talladega on Saturday afternoon to take home the win.  Connor Zilisch got caught up in a crash bringing his record of 18 straight top five finishes.

Zilisch holds on the top point standings but his lead is now just seven points ahead of Justin Allgaier.

In the Craftsman Truck Series, rookie driver Gio Ruggiero earned his first win in a Friday afternoon race at Talladega.

The 73 year olf poart time driver Norm Benning had a scary moment when his truck caught on fire and filled with smoke.  Benning exited the truck safely and was treated for smoke inhalation.  He reported on Saturday that he was fine.

Corey Heim holds on to a big lead in the point standings, 71 points in front of Rajah Caruth.
