The Cup Series traveled to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for some racing in the desert.  Denny Hamlin put his number eleven car on the pole and while he didn’t dominate the race, he was the first driver to cross the finish line to earn career race win number 60.  In the past, that number was a point Hamlin had aimed for before retiring form NASCAR.  Sixty race wins ties Hamlin with Keven Harvick for number 10 in the all time winners list.

Denny Hamlin becomes the first driver to secure a spot in the championship four.

With his win, Hamlin holds on to the point standings but is only four points ahead of Kyle Larson.

Connor Zilisch started the race on the front row but was not able to take advantage of the spot.  Zilisch has 10 wins this season, but none of them are on a mile and half track – which Las Vegas is – part  time driver Aric Almirola took home the win after sweeping the stages to ensure the Joe Gibbs Racing number 19 car becomes a part of the championship four.  However, he holds on to the points lead by 38 points over Justin Allgaier with three races remaining in the season.
