This season the NFL is cracking down on sportsmanship and player conduct.
In the game between the New York Jest and the Pittsburgh Steelers, defensive end Will McDonald celebrated a sack of Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers a little too much to suit the NFL.
As a result, the NFL has fined McDonald $14,491.
After the sack, McDonald made the motion of tossing a hand grenade before covering his ears. The NFL saw the move as a violent gesture and charged McDonald with Unsportsmanlike conduct.
The NFL issued a total of six unsportsmanlike conduct penalties after the first week of play.
If McDonald is charged with another unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, the fine will increase to over $20,000.
