Last year Stewart-Haas Racing ceased operations but Gene Haas continued on with two teams in the Xfinity Series and one team in the Cup Series; continuing on with Ford.
On September 5, the Haas Factory Team made an announcement of a major change to the team.
Beginning next season, all three Haas Factory Teams will be running Chevrolets.
Along with the change from Ford to Chevrolet, Haas has agreed to a technical alliance with Hendrick Motorsports. HMS will provide the engines for all three cars.
Joe Custer, president, Haas Factory Team spoke on the change saying, “firstand foremost, we want to thank Ford for its partnership. Their support allowed us to establish Haas Factory Team and we remain dedicated to delivering results for them in Cup and Xfinity all the way through the season finale in Phoenix.”
When Gene Haas created Haas CNC Racing in 2002, he ran Chevrolets. The return to Chevrolet is a full circle for Haas.
Speaking on the change, Gene Haas said, “personally, I have a deep history with Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports. Both helped in establishing not only my presence as a team owner in NASCAR, but also the presence of Haas Automation. Together, we were able to build a race team that competed for wins and championships while growing the use of Haas CNC machinery throughout the racing and manufacturing industries.”
Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick said, “we have a long history with Gene and his organization, including winning championships together, so this feels almost like a homecoming. Our relationship started many years ago with Haas CNC machines in our facilities, and I’ve always admired the passion that he and Joe Custer have for the sport and their desire to win. We’re proud to support Haas Factory Team and thrilled to work together to deliver more victories for Chevrolet.”
In the Cup Series, Cole Custer will continue to drive the number 41 car and in the newly renamed O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer will continue on in the 00 and 41 cars.
Fans will get their first look at the Haas Factory Team Chevrolet in the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium on February 1.
The Haas Factory Team drivers in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will get their 2026 debut February 14 at Daytona International Speedway.
