In part two of the Nashville Superspeedway triple header, the Xfinity Series brings 40 teams for 38 starting spots in the Tennessee Lottery 250 for some Saturday night racing.
But first the drivers will get a 25 minute practice session before making a qualifying run to set the field. The drivers have been divided into two groups for practice.
Melon Man Ross Chastain is hoping to make the race today driving the number nine car for JR Motorsports – something Chastain said he has wanted to do for many years; adding that he is desperate to win an Xfinity race for JRM.
A concrete track, the ambient temperatures do not affect the racing surface at Nashville in the same manner as the asphalt tracks.
Kyle Sieg topped the leaderboard with the fastest lap in Group 1 practice.
Tenth overall, Sheldon Creed topped the leaderboard in Group 2 practice with the fastest lap, but the JRM drivers top the list in multiple lap speeds.
The first driver on the track to make a qualifying run is Glen Reen who posted a time of 31.818 seconds.
William Sawalich is the first driver to break the 31 second mark with a time of 30.860 seconds.
With a time of 30.860 seconds, William Sawalich puts his number 18 car on the pole. Austin Hill will start alongside on the front row.
