Prompt: What Topics do you like to discuss?

When I saw this prompt, it was a “no brainer” for me.

One of my favourite topic is music…music artists, music in general, music theory, and pretty much anything music related from the music itself to the people who make it.

I grew up in a musical home and could read the notes on the treble clef before I could read the words on the page. For some reason, the notes on the bass clef don’t seem to stick in my head. But then again notes above and below the staff are a bit rough too…hmmmm.

But I still love to talk about it all!

In college, I took music theory classes…for fun! The music majors hated theory classes, but to me it was a lot of fun. I have recently discovered relying on some of those lessons I learned all those years ago are helping me now when I work on learning a new piece of music on my guitar.

I am an avid reader and would dearly love to be able to discuss some of the books I read. I am a big fan of espionage/counterespionage, spy, and the “save the world” type novels; especially when they put fictional characters into real life events. Sure they are fiction and at some point will involve something that is purely in the “that’s isn’t possible” category; but they are also very intriguing and can often give you something to think about.

I love reading Jack Higgins; Sean Dillon series, Clive Cussler’s Oregon and Dirk Pitt series, Daniel Silva’s Gabriel Alon books, Alistair MacLean’s books, James Rollins’ Sigma series, and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan books. Dan Brown has written some good stuff too with his Robert Langdon series.

As a journalist I have to be able to reasonably discuss many topics; but I want an intelligent discussion…not a I’m right/you’re wrong type of thing that isn’t a discussion but a one-sided lecture.

In the words of Dwayne Pride (NCIS: New Orleans), I like to “learn things”.
