With just seven performances last week, the William Shakespeare play “Othello” burst records left and right from ticket prices to overall box office draw. 

Starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, the average ticket price was a whopping $362; with some fans forking over nearly $900 to see the show!  And the show just started previews!

With a box office draw of over two and a half million dollars, “Othello” tops the Million Dollar Club; beating out “Wicked” – the other $2 million plus draw last week.  Housed in the Barrymore, the seating capacity is just over 1,000 seats at 1,041.

Just eleven of the 27 shows currently running made it into the Million Dollar Club last week.
