It’s no secret to anyone who knows my writing, that anything I get to design is more than likely going to include music and the water.
And that is especially true if I am going to build a space where I can be creative.
There is a restaurant near here that extends out over the area below where people fish and launch their boats. Sitting at the tables it looks as if you are sitting out over the water. If I could not be on the water itself, I would like something like that. But being next…or even on…the water is very important.
As for the layout of the place…I want a cushy comfy place to sit where I can look out on the water. And I need a table, or at least something where I can rest my laptop/notebook. I don’t like trying to hold a laptop on my lap.
I have learned over the years after doing many interviews that I work best when I can actually write things down on paper and type it in later. It’s almost like the thoughts come out of my brain, down my arm, and out the pen on to the paper. But a lot can be said for using cut and pasting too when working from online.
I am a nibbler when I am writing. Somehow it helps me to think and be creative. So, I would need some snacks to help me think. Oh, and a drink too.
And the music??? I think best with New Age music. There’s something about it that sparks my brain. Of course, most any type of music gets me going but sometimes some music gets me moving and singing instead of working; so, music with no words works best. New Age is calming and conducive to thinking…at least for me.
Ever since I was in college, I have had a place where I would go to study and later writer. It was always an eating establishment. The hum of the crowd never bothered me; it was always that one voice that rose above the crowd that became a distraction. The music was an added bonus.
