The 2025 edition of the Grammy Awards – 67th – is set for February 2, 2025 in Los Angeles, California.
Each year the Recording Academy makes a number of adjustments to the requirements for eligibility and how the awards are categorized.
The Recording Academy has issued a number of updates for the 2025 Grammy Awards at the most recent Board of Trustees meeting. All updates take affect immediately.
Changes and adjustments are designed to “enhance the integrity and inclusivity of the awards, reflect the Academy’s commitment to staying current with the evolving music industry.”
Grammy Award changes for 2025:
Featured artists who perform less than 50% of the winning recording will now be presented with a Winner’s Certificate in all categories except Best Musical Theater Album and the Craft categories.
In the Non-Classical Songwriter of the Year category, the number of songs required for submission goes from five to four with a maximum of nine entries.
Entry requirements for the Best Traditional R&B Performance category has been amended to “more accurately represent the classic elements of R&B and Soul music.
The Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category has been amended to expand the allowable entries to include Musical Theater. In addition, an album must include at least 75 percent of newly recorded (previously unreleased) material.
In the Best Children’s Music Album Category, all entries must now include a translation for all non-English lyrics. The category now includes music for infants to 12 years of age.
The Best Remixed Recording Category has been moved to the Pop & Dance/Electronic Field.
The Best Pop Dance Recording Category is now the Best Dance Pop Recording.
The Best Dance/Electronic Music Album Category has been renamed the Best Dance/Electronic Album. All entries must include a minimum of 50 percent Dance/Electronic music.
Conjunto Music can now be found in the Best Regional Roots Music Album category.
The Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media Category has been amended to include music in the DLC (downloaded Content in-game) and Seasonal Expansions. At least 50 percent of the recording/download must feature new music.
