What are you most proud of in your life?

I am, by necessity, a child of technology. Once of the best inventions for me was the creation of the Kindle. Mine goes everywhere I do. It is a part of my essential items for when I leave home along with my wallet, phone, and keys.

While I am very picky about what and who I read, I greatly enjoy reading…and learning things. Even fiction books have things of value (well, at least some of the authors I read use actual events, places, and plenty of facts in their works).

I could never understand people who said they don’t like to read or complain that they are board. As someone who is unable to read normal sized print, the Kindle has opened a whole new world for me. The Kindle app keeps track of reading streaks and according to mine, I have read for 779 days in a row! That’s over two years without missing a day of reading – 126 weeks.

I read every day…when I eat, when I go to bed at night, sometimes just because I need a bit of a break, and always when I have to wait (Drs, rides, the bus, etc.). Sometime even during commercials. It’s amazing the amount of stuff you can get done during commercial breaks these days.

I read a lot as a child but got away from it as I got older – life just got in the way – but after getting a Kindle, I began reading more and more over the years until now it is a part of my daily life. There was a time when I was made to feel guilty for “wasting time” because I would sit and read; but NO more.

As small children in school, we were taught that “reading is fundamental”; well, it is much more than that. I hope that the world never reaches the days of “Fahrenheit 451” where books are banned; it would be a real shame and the loss of a major source of learning and entertainment.
