After a near Cinderella win to help close out a brilliant career, Kevin Harvick finds that he has been given the rotting pumpkin after losing his second place Talladega finish.

During the post race inspection process, officials discovered that the number four Stewart-Haas Racing car driven by Harvick was in violation of the NASCAR rule book.  Officials determined that the number four car violates Sections 14.5.6.2F, 14.1.E, and 14.1.P which relates to the windshield fasteners and the Overall Assembled Vehicle Rules that state ““windshield fasteners must remain secure for the entire Event.”

As a result of the infractions, NASCAR  has disqualified Harvick’s second place finish.  He has been placed in last place with the remainder of the field moving up a spot in the results.

In addition, Harvick has been stripped of the three stage points he earned for finishing eighth at the end of stage one.

William Byron is now listed as the second place finisher in the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
