There was a time when earning the title of independent music artist was a slap in the face and the insinuation that the artist was not very good. Today the title of Independent Music Artist is a badge of honour to be worn with pride.
Music Row has named James Robert Webb as its Independent Artist of the Year as a part of their Country Breakout Awards.
With his singles “Okfuskee Whiskey”, “Stealing Home”, and “Good Time Waitin’ to Happen”; Webb garnered the most record plays in 2021on the MusicRow Country Breakout Radio Chart.
Webb spoke on receving the award saying, “I just want to say thank you to the fans and to the stations on the panel that gives independent artists like me a chance. To anyone that played a JRW song, you make it about the music and the power of a song- and that’s how it should be. So this is really your award. But, I sure am happy to accept it for y’all.”
His last six singles have charted in the top 25 of the Music Row music chart and has his debut self titles album streamed nearly three million times.
The Oklahoma native is not just a country singer; he is also, a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, AND a practicing physician! Webb has shared the stage with the Marshall Tucker Band, Ray Stevens, and Montgomery Gentry.
