After the O’Reilley’s Auto Parts 500 on April 8 at Texas Motor Speedway NASCAR selected a random number of cars to take to their R&D center for closer post race inspection.

During that inspection, NASCAR discovered a rules infraction on the Hendricks Motorsports number nine car driven by Chase Elliott. NASCAR discovered that the rear window support brace did not meet the proper specifications and did not keep the rear window rigid in all directions.

As a result of the infraction, Elliott’s crew chief Alan Gustafson has been suspended for two races and was fined $50,000. Car owner Rick Hendrick has been docked 20 car owner points and Chase Elliott has been docked 20 driver points.
